Manchester United set to complete £16m deal for Blackburn's Phil Jones
Manchester United have won the race to sign Blackburn's England under-21 defender Phil Jones in a deal understood to be worth £16m.
The centre-back, 19, will undergo medical tests at United's training ground before signing a five-year contract. Jones, who made his Premier League debut in March last year, played 28 times last season despite being hampered by injuries, and is part of England's European Under-21 Championship squad.
He signed a five-year deal at Ewood Park in February, but that included a release clause setting his value at £16m. He had been linked with both Liverpool and Arsenal before opting to join United. Read More
