The naked truth: Elen Rivas campaigns against bullfighting in provocative new PETA ad

Stars stripping off has always been one of the most effective ways for animal rights group PETA to grab attention and cause a little controversy.
Their latest campaign has done that and more - the provocative image of Elen Rivas bleeding from four banderillas piercing her back was deemed so gruesome that it was banned from easyJet's in-flight magazine.
Elen, 36, appears naked in the ad campaign to fight bullfighting, in the hope she will dissuade tourists from going to watch 'barbaric blood sport' in her native Spain.
'My ad might be graphic, but it's nothing compared to the bloody, violent reality of bullfights', says Rivas.
'Most Spaniards – including those in my hometown of Barcelona, where bullfighting was recently banned – are opposed to the barbaric blood sport, and PETA and I are urging British tourists not to be fooled by the industry's propaganda.
'There is absolutely nothing romantic about torturing and killing animals for entertainment.'
Campaign: The 36-year-old is hoping to dissuade tourists from watching the 'barbaric blood sport' when they visit her native Spain
EasyJet's magazine Traveller said that although they sympathise with PETA's cause, they chose not to publish the hard-hitting image, deeming the graphic nature of the images and the nudity too racy.
A PETA spokesperson explains: 'In a typical bullgihts, men on blindfolded horses drive lances into the bull's back and neck, impairing the animal's ability to lift his head.
'Others plunge banderillas – sticks with harpoon points – into the bull's back.
Gruesome: The traditional sport has been banned in Canary Islands, Catalonia and most recently, Ecuador
'Finally, after the animal has become weakened from blood loss, the matador appears and attempts to kill the bull but often only succeeds in further maiming the animal.
The traditional sport is still widespread in parts of Spain, Portugal and South America, despite bans in Canary Islands, Catalonia and most recently, Ecuador.
Elen is the latest in a long line of celebrities including Pamela Anderson, Eva Mendes, Khloe Kardashian and Alicia Silvertsone to strip off to draw attention to animal rights.
'Just friends': Elen denies she has rekindled her romance with Peter Andre, telling Mail Online, 'nothing is happening'
Elen told Mail Online earlier this month that she was 'fine' about her ex-fiancé Frank Lampard getting engaged to Christina Bleakley.
Speaking at the pre-Wimbledon party at the Roof Gardens in Kensington, she insisted: 'I've moved on, it's been so long.'
She also denied that she had rekindled a romance with ex-boyfriend Peter Andre after the pair were seen looking close at Amy Childs' birthday party.
She said: 'Nothing is happening with Pete. There's nothing to tell. We're just friends. I love all my friends.'
