ANOTHER TOP-TEN FOR JASON WHITE IN A & W DODGE

June 12, 2011.  (Toronto, ON)  Sun Peaks, British Columbia racer Jason White continues to build momentum with the #21 A & W Dodge team in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series.  White eagerly anticipated a return to oval racing and the sight of round three for the 2011 season, Delaware Speedway near London, Ontario.  Once again the team produced a solid effort and was rewarded with their second top-ten finish in three races.

White had never finished higher than fifteenth at Delaware in his two previous outings but after feeling the power under the hood of the #21 A & W Dodge Challenger he knew that they would certainly better that mark.  “This team works so hard to give me a great car and I couldn’t wait to get to Delaware” stated White.

The #21 A & W Dodge team worked to improve the handling of the car during practice but in qualifying White was disappointed with only an eighteenth starting spot.  “I know the track changed some from practice but I didn’t do as well as I should have” stated the driver.  “That’s on me and l had to make up for it in the race”.

That determination had White moving the #21 A & W Dodge forward at the first opportunity when the 200 lap feature event began.  “I knew we had a better car than I showed and I had some ground to make up” said White.  During a long initial green flag run White did gain several positions closing in on the top-ten.

But an aggressive strategy is not an all night recipe for success so White chose to be patient following his initial charge.  “I’ve found that if we focus on making sure we’re there at the end to finish the race, the positive results will come” explained White.  “So we made our pit stops and used our race plan and it was working for us” he added.

In the closing laps White found that he’d moved the #21 A & W Dodge up near the top-ten and a late race caution presented an opportunity to the team.  “We were the last car on the lead lap so my Crew Chief Derek Lynch made the call to come in for a quick adjustment to help the handling for the quick shoot out to finish the race” said the driver.
The plan worked perfectly.  When the green flag waved with eight laps remaining White pushed the #21 A & W Dodge up to tenth spot and held on to claim his second consecutive top-ten finish.

With back to back top-ten finishes White is feeling very good about how the #21 A & W Dodge team are performing so far this season.  “We’ve found our comfort zone” said White.  “The team work so hard to have the car prepared and working well right from the start of the day for me.  We’re a team that’s going to run strong each time out on the track.  We’ve had a couple of good results and now we’re going to start pushing for a little more” he added.
