CRATES KEEP ON CREATING

Champion Racing Association Purchases SuperPro Crate Series
Unification Effort to Benefit New JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour Presented by GM Performance Parts
Salem, IN (January 7, 2011) - Officials from Champion Racing Association (CRA) and SuperPro Series president Bill Lackey announced today that CRA has purchased the Midwest based crate late model SuperPro Series. The purchase agreement allows for the unification of crate late model racing in the Midwest, placing the recently announced JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour presented by GM Performance Parts in a leadership role for the future of the popular racing form.
"I’ve been very fortunate to work with CRA owners Glenn Luckett and R. J. Scott in the past," noted Lackey, "and was pleased when they made the announcement to become involved in crate late model racing. I am very proud of the work we’ve done to build this segment of the racing market, and CRA is the perfect organization to take this program to the next level."
A key component of CRA’s decision to purchase the SuperPro series was to alleviate the stresses for racers, tracks and officials that come from multiple organizations trying to achieve the same goal. Additionally, CRA’s goal of unification is aided by a 3-year consulting arrangement with Lackey.
"Bill has been one of the nicest and most respected people in our business," CRA founder R. J. Scott noted. "His experience and relationships can be very important to the continued growth in this segment of racing, so we are very pleased to have him as a resource in the coming years."
"The response to CRA’s Christmas Eve announcement of the new JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour presented by GM Performance Parts has been incredible," commented CRA co-owner Glenn Luckett. "We felt strongly that the new series would be received very well, as racers and other industry leaders have been asking us to help lead crate late model racing for the past few years. It’s been very rewarding personally to take the calls from the large number of racers who are excited about the new series and being a part of the CRA family. The calls are coming from former ASA and Sunoco National Tour racers, SuperPro racers, existing CRA teams, brand new teams…and more importantly, teams that have been sitting on the sidelines for the last couple of years."
A 10-12 race schedule is currently being put together for the 2011 season that should be announced in the next two weeks. The schedule announcement will be followed closely by a finalized rules package similar to former SuperPro Series and other, comparable crate series. Interested parties can find all the information in the coming weeks at www.craracing.net.
