We found a video on YouTube that captures the complete qualifying run of Sodeman including the sky-high cartwheel that took Sodeman and his car outside the stadium.
This had to be the race promoter and family’s worse nightmare. A car going over the catch fence where rescue vehicle don’t normally go and could have a difficult time reaching the injured racer.
In addition to the high-flying footage, the video also shows how the crash happened. It appears that going into turn three, Sodeman pitches his sprint car sideways and the wind catches the signboard. The wing simply breaks away from the car and Sodeman starts flipping.
There was nothing that Sodeman could have done inside the car to lessen the severity of the crash.
Sodeman has undergone surgery for a broken shin bone and is recovering. INFO VIA ONE DIRT
