SMOKE EM’

Submitted by Gord Craig, NPP

DEVON, AB – A record crowd was on hand for the 7th annual Show ‘n’ Shine and Burnout Competition at the River of Hope Church in Devon, Alberta Friday night (May 27th).  “The bleachers were full about a half hour before the event even started,” says NPP Series announcer Gord Craig who was guest MC, “it was standing room only in the end.”  A crowd of just over 1,000 took in this year’s burnout competition.  “It took about an hour and a half to get through this years field of burnout competitors.  There certainly was a lot of rubber burned tonight.”
This is the 5th consecutive year that the Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series has been involved in the kick-off event to the annual Devon Days weekend festival.  “It’s the most talked about event leading up to Devon Days,” adds Craig, “it’s pretty hard to ignore.”  The event was not just about tire smoke.  Prior to the burnout competition more than four dozen hot rods, classic cars, trucks and motorcycles were judged in the Show ‘n’ Shine.
The Northern Provincial Pipelines Late Model Series is proud to be involved in numerous community events throughout the year.  Next scheduled race action for the NPP Late Model Series is Saturday, June 4th at Edmonton’s Castrol Raceway.
