EDGE OF DARKNESS
Emma's death (Bojana Novakovic) is a serious blow for Thomas Craven (Mel Gibson). Everyone thought that Thomas was the real target because of the police, Thomas clearly had many enemies. But when Thomas investigating the death of his only daughter, the detective began to realize that so far there's not much he knew about her daughter.
Thomas believed that her daughter's death was a 24-year-old is nothing to do with the work of Thomas as a cop. In this investigation found that Thomas actually Emma's death related to her activities as an activist. There are parties who do not want their secrets revealed, and the only way of silencing Emma is with her life.
So begins Thomas traced the traces may be left behind and the instructions began to appear, Thomas realized that he faced no ordinary person. There is a conspiracy going on and she was the victim so that the whole scenario can be executed as planned and Thomas had to deal with people in high positions by himself because he could no longer rely on the institution where he served.
Seven years had Mel Gibson left his profession as an actor. Finally he played in the film The Singing Detective in 2003. Since then, Mel was more practical to his world of directing. Two films he had done in the vacuum as an actor. Upon hearing the news that Mel will be back playing in the movie raises the question, 'What about this actor will be offered after a dive into the world directing? "
The result was not much. This means that there is nothing special about Mel Gibson's acting this time. In fact, we sort of like to see Mel when playing as a Porter in the 1999 film Payback years ago. It is the character played by two people who Mel has similarities but that's no reason to equate the two characters.
Although Mel Gibson's name attached as the main actor, but Ray Winstone seems to play a more brilliant. That does not mean that Mel's acting in this movie really bad just nothing new from Mel after a long vacuum.
EDGE OF DARKNESS itself is actually the result of adaptation of a mini-series that aired in 1985 the BBC last year. Of the six episodes of Martin Campbell, who is also a director of the mini-series was commissioned William Monahan, Andrew Bovell, Troy Kennedy Martin for packaging as a script for the duration of no more than two hours and the result was a little saggy. The same experience you would feel if you watch the movie Angels & Demons after you read the novel
