Courtesy Call Iraq's Ambassador to the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia




Iraq's Ambassador to Indonesia, HE. Ismieal Shafiq Muhsin has been a courtesy (Courtesy call) to the Minister of Agriculture, Suswono on Wednesday, November 24, 2010, at 10:00 am at the Agriculture Ministry office 2nd Floor GD A Ministry of Agriculture, Jl. Harsono RM No.3 Jakarta. RI was accompanied by Minister of Agriculture Ato Suprapto, Head of Agricultural Extension and Development of Human Resources; Tahlim Sudaryanto, SAM International Cooperation; representatives of Agricultural Research, Karden Mulya, as the Head of Center for Biogen; Wisnu Broto, Head of the Center for Post-Harvest; and Pamela Fadhilah, Bilateral Section Head, Bureau of International Cooperation (KLN), Secretariat General.

Iraq's Ambassador purpose of this meeting is to introduce ourselves to the Minister of Agriculture because he new served for four months in Indonesia and the Iraqi government's stated desire to develop bilateral cooperation with Indonesia in agriculture and fisheries.

Since the U.S. military occupation in Iraq, the Iraq crisis. Indonesian Ambassador to Iraq hoping to provide technical assistance in agriculture, such as training for agricultural workers and farmers in Iraq can update the technology. Iraq's Ambassador wishes to renew the agreement which was agreed by both countries in the past through the Joint Commission Meeting under the coordination of Foreign Ministry.


Agriculture Minister responded that the MoU between the two countries agriculture is still in process. Especially for the field of fisheries, it is suggested that proposed to the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries for fisheries authorities in the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. The process of settlement of the MoU field of agriculture will continue to be monitored by the Minister of Agriculture.

Currently, Iraq began to accept the arrival of many "western company." However, Iraq is more pleased if Indonesia as the biggest Islamic country can work together and invest in Iraq.

Head of HR Agricultural Extension and expressed its readiness to provide technical assistance by utilizing the Agricultural Training Center owned by the Ministry of Agriculture.

From the discussion continued after the Iraqi ambassador to leave the ministry of agriculture, concluded that on Iraq, Indonesia in a position to provide assistance for the recovery of agricultural sector development. For that matter, the Ministry is ready to assist especially in terms of seed. Indonesia has many strains of seed crops that can be tested in Iraq. As for the development use of the seeds will be proposed for further handled by PT. Sang Hyang Seri
